Co-founder & Director: Faiza 'Fy-za'

Faiza Abdulkadir (She/Her) is a British Somali Muslim based in London. Also known as a 'renaissance woman', her practices include arts and community fundraising, consultancy, archiving and artist management.

With over ten years of experience in the social sector, Faiza has spent five years as a fundraiser for award-winning London theatres including The Bush, The Yard, The Gate and HighRise Theatre, leading on trusts and foundations, individual giving and corporate fundraising. Most recently, she served as Head of Fundraising and Business Development at Birthrights, a human-rights charity focused on women, raising nearly £1m in under 12 months. She has also written on the subject, with her article "Relationship Building as a Resistance: My Love-Hate Relationship with Fundraising" published on JMB Consulting's Uncharitable Papers.

Faiza is a Doctoral Researcher in Sociology at Birkbeck, University of London. Her research explores intergenerational dynamics between first and second generation British Somalis through concepts such as 'Dhaqan Celis' which translates to 'Return to your culture' in Somali. She is also an emerging Archivist capturing the stories of British Somalis through creative practices informed by intersectional frameworks drawn from Black and Islamic feminist thought.

Beyond her research and fundraising work, Faiza is a Trustee for Galbur Foundation, a core member of Edge Fund, and sits on the Cultural Board for You Make It. She's also an Associate for OKO Consultancy and Scenius Consultancy.
